New Colors, new format, fun features and little extras for productivity are in the new Google Calendar.
Below are a few of my favorite new features. You can find all the updates and changes here at the Google G Suite Learning Center here.
Don’t like the new color scheme? YES, you can go back to the “classic colors“! From the settings on your calendar page – click on the gear icon in the top right corner and go to “Color and Density”. See more info Calendar Color Set . Notice that the Classic Colors have a black font and the new Modern Color fonts are white with bolder colors.
Calendar Views: With ONE keystroke you can switch from the one view to another. Or you can also use the view menu on the top right and select the view you want.
Press y on your keyboard to see the entire year at a glance. Click on any date in the yearly view and a popover will appear with all the scheduled events. Then press w to instantly go back to your week view. This is a quick way to jump back or forward in time.
Appointment Slots: Making appointments are important for any calendar user, and Google has added a few key features to increase productivity and communication. You can quickly add an event by clicking on the Add Event Button from the bottom right corner in Calendar or click on any time slot. From the detail window of the event, add a link to a Google Doc, add locations, and find more edit tools.

Other Fun Features: Add a secondary Time Zone and show the world clock. Send a note with your RSVP to an event. Awesome new event banners like these for “lunch”, “basketball game” and “Movie”.
