Did you know that you have a YouTube account? It’s part of your Brewster Google Suite of Apps just like Google Docs and Gmail. Taking video from your computer and uploading it to YouTube is rather simple. Here’s how to do it from scratch!
Step 1) Identify a video! There are many ways to get a video. Whether it’s form your phone, iMovie or another application. For the purposes of this blog post, we’re going to assume that you already have one to upload. These are the types of video files that you can simply upload to YouTube.
- .MOV
- .MPEG4
- MP4
- .AVI
- .WMV
- .MPEGPS
- .FLV
- 3GPP
- WebM
Step 2) Navigate to your YouTube upload page (https://www.youtube.com/upload). If you are not already logged into your BA Gmail account you will be asked for your username and password. These are the same as the ones you use to log into Gmail.
…you can also get to this page by clicking the “upload button” at the top of any YouTube page.
Step 3) Drag your video onto the page where indicated or click on the “Select Video to Upload” area on the screen. You will then be asked to browse to your video file from the Macintosh Finder.
Step 4) Set Privacy Settings
From this page, simply click on the box labeled “Public” and you’ll be able to choose from three basic privacy settings. We recommend starting with “Private” because you can change permissions later. However, here are what the three choices mean:
–Public: Any user on the internet can find this by searching.
–Unlisted: No one can find this video by searching the internet, but anyone with the actual link (URL) of the video could watch and share it.
–Private: Just like it says, this will be only viewable to you, signed into your Google/YouTube account
Step 5) As the video uploads you will see the screen below with your video’s “Upload and Processing” progress bar displayed at the top. While the video is uploading and processing you can enter information about the video, such as; Title, Description, privacy settings (again), tags and comments. You can also change your privacy settings if you haven’t already done so, or if you want to change them. Just click the “Done” button in the upper right-hand corner when you are finished.
Step 6) When all is finished, simply click the “Publish” button.
When all of these steps are completed you will see the following screen, which includes the link your new YouTub video!
Congratulations! You’ve now posted a YouTube video.
