Sometimes it is the little time-savers or “gadgets” that make our daily routines just a little easier without us ever realizing it. Gmail has a Calendar Gadget that may just make your day! The Calendar Gadget will allow you to view your daily events right in your Gmail window sidebar.
Simply enabling the “Gmail Lab Calendar Gadget” you get just that, a box on the left-hand side that displays your calendar with upcoming events, locations and details.
From your Gmail main page
Click the Gear Icon on the top right > Settings
In the Settings window > click on the Labs Tab
Scroll down to the Calendar Gadget > click Enable > Save Changes
Now on the bottom left side of your Gmail page you will find the Calendar Gadget displayed. You are able to scroll through all of your calendar events. Under options you can choose which calendars you want to view. When you click on an event you will see the date, time and any description. There are options to “Quick Add” an event.
To add a Quick Event, just type in the date and time “5pm Saturday Dinner”, then click “Add”. The dinner event is now displayed in your mini calendar and also on your main calendar.
This gadget makes it convenient to scan your calendar without switching to a new tab. If you always have your email page open, you will easily find the calendar with just a glance for a quick check to see what time is the next meeting – right there on the same page. You can even create a special calendar and just view that particular one – such as your class schedule.
